HOLDEN — The 122 Diner will reopen Friday, 5 weeks after a driver experiencing a medical emergency crashed into the Main Street restaurant multiple times, badly damaging the building.
The diner announced Thursday afternoon that it is ready to welcome customers back, though exterior repairs are still underway. A visit shortly before 4:30 Thursday afternoon showed the exterior under construction while people were inside getting ready for Friday's reopening.
“We’re back!!! After 5 long weeks, we’re reopening tomorrow! We can’t wait to see you all. The exterior’s still under construction — but we’re open and ready to serve you!” the diner said.
The diner closed March 27th after a vehicle struck the building at about 9:53 a.m., forcing people inside to evacuate. No one inside the diner was hurt, according to WHDH.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to support the diner’s staff has raised $10,000. The fundraiser will be closed today, according to a comment by the campaign's founder, Carolyn Somma.
