Troy Siebels to step down as president, CEO of Hanover Theatre

  • WORCESTER — The Worcester Center for Performing Arts, which owns and operates The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts, announced a significant leadership change. After 20 years as president and CEO, Troy Siebels will transition to a new role within the organization, according to a press release.

Siebels, who has led The Hanover Theatre since its grand opening in 2008, has been a driving force behind the venue's success and growth. His leadership has helped transform the theatre into a hub for world-class entertainment, arts, and culture, significantly impacting downtown Worcester's economy. Siebels was recently named one of Worcester Business Journal's most influential leaders of 2024.

Under his guidance, The Hanover Theatre expanded to include the BrickBox Theater at the Jean McDonough Arts Center, The Hanover Theatre Repertory, and the Bank of America Stage on Francis R. Carroll Plaza. Siebels also directed and adapted the annual production of "A Christmas Carol," which has been seen by over 260,000 patrons, including 65,000 students.

Expressing pride in the theatre's contributions, Siebels stated, “Today, it is a vibrant center of culture, education, and community. I’m equally excited about the potential that lies ahead.”

Siebels will work with the board on a leadership transition, focusing on curating performances on the main stage and Carroll Plaza, and supporting advancement efforts and regional partnerships. “I’m a theatre guy, it’s what I love to do,” he said.

Board Chair Kellie Thibodeau praised Siebels' impact and dedication, saying, “We respect Troy’s decision and look forward to his continued contributions. We are performing a comprehensive search for a new leader with the help of Arts Consulting Group.”

Tickets for Siebels' 17th annual production of "A Christmas Carol" will go on sale during the theatre’s Christmas in July extravaganza.
