HeartWell Institute, WCAC partner to support front-line staff

  • WORCESTER — The HeartWell Institute today announced a new partnership with Worcester Community Action Council. The initiative will employ local teachers and trusted community messengers to deliver a year-long calendar of wellness programs for W.C.A.C.’s staff in Worcester and South-Central Worcester County.

W.C.A.C. employees are encouraged to be active participants in co-creating a supportive workplace culture through such accessible, culturally resonant mindfulness practices as all-staff mindfulness sessions, quarterly pop-up meditation sessions, and Laughter Yoga.

    Benefits of the partnership include:

    • Simple, culturally resonant mindfulness tools that reduce stress in daily life

    • Growth of a sustainable culture of self-care in the workplace

    • Increased emotional resilience and a stronger sense of personal agency among participants

“We are proud to offer mindfulness as part of a mental health support system for Worcester’s frontline workers,” says Susan Buchholz, executive director of The HeartWell Institute. “These offerings are designed not only to benefit individual well-being, but to strengthen our collective capacity to serve the community with care and connection.”

“At W.C.A.C., we know that the well-being of our staff directly impacts the well-being of the communities we serve,” says Marybeth Campbell, C.E.O. of the Worcester Community Action Council. “This partnership with The HeartWell Institute is an investment in our team, helping to ensure they feel rooted, resilient, and supported in the critical work they do every day.”

The year-long initiative will feature mindfulness sessions, resilience workshops, and interactive wellness activities tailored to the unique needs of WCAC staff.
