North Worcester Business Assn. kicks off season Sept. 16th

  • Worcester Health and Human Services Commissioner Seema Dixit to speak at season-opening luncheon

    WORCESTER — The North Worcester Business Association will kick off its 2026-27 season on Wednesday, September 16th, with a luncheon featuring Seema Dixit, commissioner of Health and Human Services for the City of Worcester, as guest speaker.

    The luncheon marks the beginning of another season of networking, professional connections and programs focused on Worcester's business community and the opportunities available in the city's North Worcester area. It will be held at noon at The Mill 185 on West Boylston Street.

    Dixit, a seasoned public health executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience in state and local government, leads a broad portfolio for the City of Worcester that includes public health, youth services, elderly affairs, veterans' services and homelessness services.

    Before joining Worcester, Dixit served as deputy director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, where she provided executive leadership for statewide public health systems encompassing environmental health, healthcare access, chronic disease prevention and health equity.

    Throughout her career, Dixit's work has included environmental health, infectious disease control, healthcare quality and safety, health equity and community-driven approaches to addressing social determinants of health. Her work has also focused on integrating public health with systems addressing housing, homelessness and access to care.

    Dixit holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Health Administration and a Master of Science in International Health and Public Policy from Tufts University, as well as graduate and undergraduate degrees in Human Nutrition from SNDT Women's University in Mumbai. She has also held leadership roles with national and regional public health organizations, including the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

    The September 16th luncheon is open to N.W.B.A. members and non-members. Admission is $25 for members, $35 for non-members.

    Founded in the early 1980s, the North Worcester Business Association has served its members and the greater Worcester community for more than 4 decades. The organization's mission is to promote Worcester and Worcester County as a thriving area for business growth and opportunity while helping members build connections, succeed in the marketplace and give back to the community.

    The association's 2026-27 season runs from September 1st through June 30th with networking and programming designed to bring together business owners, professionals and others interested in Worcester's business community.
