    WORCESTER — Zorba's Taverna, a fixture on Stafford Street since 2011, announced that it is closing its doors for good.

    Declaring "All good things must come to an end," the restaurant on Thursday posted its goodbye on social media.

    "With that we’d like to thank our wonderful customers, our dedicated staff, diligent vendors and everyone in between. We’re grateful for all of you and hope to see you one last time through February 3rd. Thank You for the many years of support."

    The restaurant is the fifth high profile Worcester business to close in recent weeks.

    District Wood Fired Kitchen announced on Tuesday that it was closing but hoping to reopen with a new concept later in 2024.

    Popular restaurant Lock 50, which was sold in October, closed abruptly on January 2nd, leading to the consternation of workers who were given no notice of the closing, according to an article in The Worcester Guardian. The new owners also intend to reopen later this year.

    The market Maker to Main, which reopened in the Canal District in September after moving from Main Street, also announced it was closing.

    And the Telegram & Gazette reported on Wednesday that Blackstone Herbs & Martini Bar on Green Street has closed but hopes to reopen with a new concept.
