WORCESTER — Worcester police are warning residents about an increase in overnight thefts involving Infiniti Q50 and Q60 vehicles.
5 thefts have been reported across the city since June, according to a community awareness bulletin released Friday morning.
Police said thieves have entered the vehicles by breaking a window or sunroof. In some cases, the thieves were then able to program a new key fob and drive away.
Owners of Infiniti Q50 and Q60 vehicles are encouraged to park in well-lit areas and use a steering wheel lock or another visible anti-theft device.
Police also recommend keeping key fobs away from vehicles to help prevent relay attacks, in which thieves capture and transmit a key’s wireless signal to unlock or start a vehicle.
Residents are asked to report suspicious activity to police.
