Shrewsbury man arrested for indecent assault at Auburn spa

  • AUBURN — Auburn police arrested a Shrewsbury man recently after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance at Health Spa, located at 385 Southbridge Street.

Officers responded to the scene on Sunday, October 6th, and interviewed a 30-year-old female customer, who said she had paid for a massage when the masseur, Guangyo Gao, 22, forced her to touch him inappropriately, according to police.

Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, specific details have not been released. Gao was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

Auburn Police Chief Lemon said detectives have contacted the Department of Licensure to investigate potential administrative action against the spa, which is owned by Zhu Relaxation and has been in operation since 2020.

The business had recently renewed its license in April 2024, authorities said.
