Auburn K9 tracks, helps arrest domestic violence suspect

  • AUBURN — A police K9 helped officers track down and arrest a suspect wanted in a domestic violence-related case Wednesday night, authorities said.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded to a home shortly after 9 p.m. for a reported domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, they developed probable cause for an arrest, but the suspect had fled before officers arrived.

Believing the suspect was still nearby, Officer David Ljunggren and his K9 partner, Biza, were called to assist. The police dog followed the suspect’s scent and located them hiding under a deck close to the scene, police said. Officers took the individual into custody without further incident.

Authorities did not release additional details due to laws governing domestic violence-related cases. Police credited K9 Biza for the successful arrest, highlighting the dog’s value to the department and the community.
