Woman beats elderly man in Canal District, steals car with dog

  • WORCESTER – Worcester Police Department officers arrested 2 people on Monday, March 20th, after a carjacking incident took place in the Canal District on Saturday, March 18th. A 67-year-old man was assaulted, and his car was stolen while his dog was still inside the vehicle.

    According to a police statement, the victim was sitting in his parked Toyota SUV on 220 Harding Street with his dog in the backseat when a woman approached the car. The woman, identified as Tiffany Flynn, 39, of Brookfield, allegedly entered the car and began striking the victim in the head with her cellphone in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

    After a brief struggle, Flynn gained control of the car and drove away, nearly hitting the victim in the process. The dog was later dropped off by Flynn at an unknown location. The vehicle was entered into the system as stolen, and detectives were assigned to investigate the case. The victim received medical treatment for abrasions on his face.

    On Monday, an officer patrolling the area of Eastern Ave. received a Lojack hit, indicating the presence of the stolen Toyota nearby. The officer located the car parked on Patch Road with Flynn and another suspect, Kyle Bailey, 40, of Belmont St., asleep inside the car. Backup was called, and after an investigation, both individuals were arrested.

    Flynn faces charges of carjacking, 2 counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a person over 60, and cruelty to animals. Bailey has been charged with receiving stolen property over $1,200.

    The dog was found by a resident on Vernon Street and was safely returned to its owner by the police.
