WORCESTER - A local artist has come to the rescue of a cherished community artwork.

Ferdinand Nazario, who painted a mural in 2021 in honor of fallen Worcester police officer Manny Familia, has restored the work after it was vandalized last week.

Familia, a Worcester officer who tragically passed away in the line of duty, was memorialized by Nazario in a stunning mural. The mural was created not only to pay tribute to Familia's dedication and service but also to serve as a symbol of unity and support for the Worcester Police Department.

Last week, the mural was defaced in an act of vandalism. Nazario stepped in and took it upon himself to restore the mural.

The Worcester community has expressed immense gratitude to Nazario for his talent and kindness in taking on this task. A tweet from the Worcester Police Department read: "Mr. Nazario, please know how much we appreciate your talent and kindness! Thank you!"
