Worcester teen flashes gun near arcade, arrested near bus hub

  • WORCESTER — A Worcester teenager was arrested early Friday morning after flashing a handgun outside an arcade and fleeing to the bus hub downtown, according to the Worcester Police Department.

    Officers were dispatched to the area around Free Play Arcade shortly after midnight on May 12 following a report of a man loading a handgun. The suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Pablo Roman of Barber Ave., was reportedly seen cocking the gun before tucking it into his waistband.

    Officers searched the area and spotted him near the Worcester bus hub on Foster Strett. Roman attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.

    According to the police department's press release, officers noticed a gun visible through an open pant leg as they caught up to Roman. After commanding him to stay still, they handcuffed him and removed the gun along with a loaded magazine. The police confirmed that Roman did not have a license to carry firearms.

    Roman was subsequently charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Disorderly while Armed, and Trespassing. The full press release can be found on the Worcester Police Department's website.
