Vice Squad cracks down on drug dealing in Green Island

  • WORCESTER – In response to mounting neighborhood complaints about open-air drug dealing and deteriorating quality of life, the Worcester Police Department's Vice Squad carried out targeted drug law enforcement in the Green Island area on Tuesday, August 22nd. The operation, concentrated around Millbury Street, led to the arrest of 6 individuals facing multiple charges.

    Benjamin Williams, 43, of West Warren, was charged with the distribution of a Class B substance, specifically crack cocaine. Hugo Rivera, 33, of Ward Street, faces charges of distribution of Class A and Class B substances—fentanyl and crack cocaine, respectively, as well as possession of a Class A substance.

    Benley Lysius, 22, also of Ward Street was charged with the distribution and trafficking of a Class B substance (crack cocaine). He faces an additional charge of trafficking in Class B 18-36 grams of crack cocaine.

    Michael Parsons, 38, of Evelyn Street, was charged with distribution of a Class A substance (fentanyl) and had an outstanding arrest warrant. Sharon Namakula, 31, of Millbury Street, was charged with distribution and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) with the intent to distribute. She also had an outstanding arrest warrant.

    Precious Johnson, 44, of Dorchester Street, was charged with distribution and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) with the intent to distribute and trespassing.

    The operation follows a series of complaints from residents in the area, who have grown increasingly concerned about public drug dealing and its impact on community safety and quality of life.
