Badoux Lounge on Main Street in Worcester (Google)
WORCESTER — A Worcester man was arrested early Monday morning, October 2nd, after firing several shots into the air in the presence of police officers, leading to a brief pursuit and felony stop.
According to a Worcester Police Department release, at around 2 a.m. Worcester officers were in the vicinity of Badoux Lounge at 802 Main Street, monitoring a dispersing crowd.
They observed Juan Pablo Sanchez-Crespo, 29, of Greenwood St., fire a gun multiple times into the air. The officers subsequently saw Sanchez-Crespo board a white Acura and approached the vehicle. In an attempt to flee, he accelerated, running over an officer’s foot in the process.
A pursuit ensued, ending when the Acura stopped on Webster Place. After waiting for backup, officers conducted a felony vehicle stop, and Sanchez-Crespo was taken into custody without further incident. A subsequent search revealed a loaded handgun on Beacon Street, retraced from the pursuit's path.
Sanchez-Crespo, unlicensed to carry firearms, is now facing a slew of charges, including possession of a large capacity firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm, and discharging of a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. Additional charges include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, failure to stop for police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and operating to endanger.
