W.P.D quickly arrests man in attempted store robbery

    WORCESTER - Worcester Police officers wasted no time in apprehending a suspect following an attempted robbery at Gateway Foods on Millbury Street late on Thursday, December 21st. The swift response led to the arrest of a man in connection with the incident.

    According to the Worcester Police Department, the incident unfolded at approximately 11 p.m. when officers were dispatched to Gateway Foods in response to a report of an attempted robbery.

    Witnesses at the scene informed law enforcement that a male suspect had entered the convenience store, proceeded to the cash register and demanded money. The suspect hastily exited the store and fled on foot down Millbury Street in the direction of Endicott Street.

    Officers, armed with the description provided by witnesses, immediately initiated a search operation to locate and apprehend the suspect.

    Remarkably, within moments of commencing the search, officers successfully located a man who matched the description near the intersection of Millbury and Endicott streets.

    The individual was subsequently identified as Donald Scott, 49, of Georgia. Scott is facing charges of unarmed robbery in connection with the incident. Additionally, it was discovered that Scott had an outstanding warrant against him at the time of his arrest.
