WORCESTER — Worcester police officers found themselves in a high-stakes confrontation on Sunday afternoon as they moved to apprehend a man with a significant history of legal troubles.
The subject of their pursuit, Thomas Lee Frazier, age 48 of Greenwood Street, had been identified as having 6 outstanding warrants for serious offenses. When officers spotted Frazier entering a residence on Channing Street during the course of an investigation, they swiftly followed, aware of the potential risks involved.
Inside the residence, officers wasted no time in confronting Frazier, informing him of his impending arrest. However, what began as a routine procedure quickly escalated into a violent altercation. Ignoring the officers' commands, Frazier charged at one of them, initiating a physical struggle. In the heat of the moment, he resorted to biting one officer's ear, causing injury and drawing blood. Moreover, Frazier attempted to disarm an officer, adding a dangerous dimension to an already volatile situation.
Despite Frazier's resistance, the officers managed to overpower and subdue him, ultimately taking him into custody. However, the encounter left its mark, both physically and legally.
Frazier now faces a litany of charges, including assault and battery on a police officer, assault to maim, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest.
