2 teens arrested for armed robbery, loaded gun recovered

  • WORCESTER — Worcester Police officers arrested 2 18-year-olds on Thursday after an armed robbery near Hawley and Pleasant streets.

    The robbery, involving the theft of a cell phone, was reported shortly after 4 p.m. on August 29th. Officers quickly identified a silver Ford Fusion as the suspect vehicle and issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout).

    The vehicle was located a short time later on Main Street, where police apprehended Javan Alvarez of West Street and Alwin Cordero of Main Street. Both have been charged with armed robbery.

    During the arrest, officers discovered a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. Alvarez faces additional charges, including carrying a loaded gun without a license, possession of a large-capacity gun, possession of ammunition without an F.I.D. card, possession of a gun with a defaced serial number, and improper storage of a gun.
