Police arrest suspect in convenience store robberies on train

  • WORCESTER — Worcester police detectives arrested a 47-year-old man at Union Station on Wednesday evening, concluding a search tied to a string of convenience store robberies.

    Nehemias Montes, wanted on multiple warrants for unarmed robberies across the city, was taken into custody around 6 p.m. after detectives received information that he was aboard a train bound for Worcester. Officers intercepted Montes aboard a train at the station.

    In addition to the outstanding warrants, police said Montes was found in possession of several bags of fentanyl. He now faces an additional charge of possession of a Class A substance.

    The investigation into the robberies is ongoing, and authorities did not immediately provide details about the affected stores.
