WORCESTER — A Declared Winter Parking Ban will take effect in Worcester at 10 a.m. Sunday as the city braces for an incoming snowstorm.
All municipal parking garages will be free for vehicles entering after 5 a.m. Sunday until the ban is lifted. Event rates will apply for vehicles parked during special events. Residents are encouraged to use one of the following garages: Federal Plaza, Pearl & Elm, Worcester Common, Union Station, or Major Taylor Boulevard.
During the ban, parking is prohibited on main arteries, emergency and bus routes, and critical downtown streets. On other streets, parking is only allowed on the odd-numbered side unless otherwise posted. Residents can verify their street’s regulations online at worcesterma.gov.
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban may be ticketed or towed. For assistance, residents can contact Worcester 311 via phone, email, or the city’s website.
Trash and recycling pickup scheduled for Monday, January 20th, is canceled and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
The city urges residents to minimize travel during the storm, clear sidewalks within 10 hours of the storm’s end, and avoid pushing snow into the street. Those able are asked to clear snow around fire hydrants and catch basins.
For more information on the parking ban, snow removal policies, and winter weather safety, visit worcesterma.gov. Residents can also sign up for parking ban alerts through ALERTWorcester.
