Man arrested after shot fired in Green Hill Park

  • WORCESTER — A 20-year-old Worcester man is facing multiple charges after allegedly firing a gun during an argument Monday evening near Green Hill Park, police said.

    Officers responded around 7:44 p.m. on June 16th to Manny Familia Way after receiving a report of a shot fired. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man matching the suspect description provided by dispatch. The suspect, identified as Jose Segovia of Merrifield Street, fled into the nearby woods as police approached.

    Officers pursued Segovia into the woods and detained him shortly after, police said. Witnesses told investigators that Segovia had been in an argument with another male and fired a shot at him, missing.

    A police K9 conducted an article search and located a handgun approximately 10 feet from where Segovia was apprehended, authorities said.

    Segovia was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

    No injuries were reported.
