24-year-old Worcester man dies in Westborough motorcycle crash

  • WESTBOROUGH — A 24-year-old Worcester man died Monday afternoon after a motorcycle crash in Westborough, according to police.

Westborough police said the crash occurred just after noon at the rear driveway of Speedway Plaza on Route 9. Responding officers and fire personnel found the motorcyclist unresponsive in a grassy area near the driveway.

A preliminary investigation determined the motorcycle had been traveling westbound before leaving the paved roadway and striking a concrete light-pole base. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved, police said.

Paramedics from the Westborough Fire Department administered life-saving measures at the scene and transported the rider to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

The crash remains under investigation by the Westborough Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

No further information was immediately available Tuesday morning.
