Worcester police arrest 3 juveniles after gun found in car

  • WORCESTER — 3 juveniles were arrested early Saturday morning after Worcester police officers found a loaded gun inside a car during an investigation triggered by a ShotSpotter alert.

At around 4 a.m. on July 26th, police responded to Hudson Street following the activation of the city’s gunshot detection system. Officers located a nearby vehicle and approached it out of concern that someone inside may have been injured.

Inside the vehicle were 3 juvenile males. Police said a rear passenger initially provided a false identity and was asked to step out of the car. Officers then observed a cross-body bag inside the vehicle and discovered a firearm inside the bag.

When no one in the car claimed ownership of the weapon, all 3 were taken into custody.

Each is charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm without an F.I.D. card, and possession of ammunition without an F.I.D. card.

The Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit recovered and processed the weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
