WORCESTER — 29 vehicles were reported stolen in Worcester during November, 9 more than the previous month, according to data released by the Worcester Police Department on Thursday.

Police said 16 of the stolen vehicles were recovered.

Nearly half — about 45% — were considered opportunity-based thefts, including cases where keys were left inside vehicles or engines were left running.

Many of the incidents occurred in the Dorchester Street and Providence Street areas, police said. Authorities are urging residents to secure their vehicles, remove keys and valuables, and report suspicious activity.

The department said it will continue to monitor theft patterns and increase patrols in affected neighborhoods.
