WORCESTER — Worcester police said they have arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing reported Thursday night near Main Street.
Officers responding to the area of 544 Main St. around 8:30 p.m. found a man suffering from stab wounds to the torso after he flagged down a passerby for help, police said. The passerby contacted emergency responders, and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A second individual, identified as Tailor Albert Quinonez, 40, was also located near the scene. Police said Quinonez had a wound to his forehead and a laceration on his hand.
A video posted to NewsTalk New England's Facebook page shows police investigating near the crosswalk between the Hanover Theatre and federal parking garage.
Following witness interviews and evidence collection, detectives arrested Quinonez and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Worcester Police Detective Unit at 508-799-8651 or submit tips anonymously by texting 274637 with the keyword TIPWPD.
