Search warrant on Pleasant Street in Worcester nets guns, drugs

    WORCESTER — A search warrant executed Monday morning on Pleasant Street led to the seizure of guns and large quantities of illegal narcotics, Worcester police said.

    The investigation was conducted by the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Unit, Gang Unit and Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.

    Police said the warrant targeted an apartment on Pleasant Street. At about 9:20 a.m. Monday, officers observed the target of the warrant, 31-year-old Michael Harris, exiting the building. Harris was stopped a short distance away, and the WPD SWAT Team made entry into the apartment, where the warrant was executed.

    During the search, detectives recovered 2 guns, including one that had been reported stolen, along with ammunition. Investigators also seized approximately 95.4 grams of fentanyl, 112.5 grams of methamphetamine and 497 grams of cocaine, as well as packaging materials. Police said $1,368 in U.S. currency was also seized.

    Harris was charged with 2 counts of possession of a gun without a firearm identification card, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in a Class B substance over 200 grams, trafficking in methamphetamine over 100 grams, 3 counts of use of a gun in the commission of a felony, receiving stolen property, improper storage of a gun and possession of a firearm without a serial number.

    Police did not immediately release information on Harris’ arraignment date.
