WORCESTER — Worcester police seized dozens of guns, including suppressors and weapons in various stages of assembly, during a multiagency search warrant executed Thursday at a city residence.
The search warrant was carried out at an address on Pilgrim Avenue by members of the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Unit, Gang Unit and EOP/SWAT, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, police said.
Authorities said the warrant stemmed from a lengthy investigation into illegal gun manufacturing and illegal gun possession.
During the search, detectives recovered approximately 16 handguns, 7 rifles and 2 shotguns, along with 15 large-capacity magazines and 30 additional magazines. Police also seized 4 suppressors, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, body armor, a 3D printer and tools used to manufacture gun.
Police said several of the guns and suppressors were in various stages of assembly or completion at the time they were recovered.
A male suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Police did not release the individual’s name. He is expected to be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
The investigation involved multiple federal and local agencies and remains ongoing, police said.
