WORCESTER — Worcester Police Vice Squad detectives recently arrested 8 people after executing a search warrant at a Charlton Street apartment where authorities say fentanyl and crack cocaine were being distributed.

According to the Worcester Police Department, detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment after receiving numerous complaints in recent weeks about suspected drug dealing and disorderly activity at the address at all hours of the day and night.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday March 20th, Vice Detectives and members of the department’s Neighborhood Response Team approached the building and entered through the front common door. Police said detectives knocked on the apartment door and announced their presence while executing the warrant.

As officers approached, the door opened from inside, and a male later identified as Edwin Semiday allegedly attempted to slam the door shut on detectives. Officers forced entry into the apartment and detained eight occupants inside.

Police reported that evidence of drug distribution was found throughout the small apartment, including digital scales, packaging materials, cutting agents and drugs packaged for sale. Detectives recovered approximately 20 grams of fentanyl packaged for sale and 17 grams of crack cocaine.

Joseph Baez, Jasmine Fuentes, Jesus Benitez, Angel Perez, Quazay McClain, Arianna Belcher, Cristalee Gonzalez and Edwin Semiday were arrested and charged with trafficking in Class A fentanyl between 18 and 36 grams and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
