DEVENS — Hear a loud boom lately? Controlled detonations are taking place through May 1 at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, formerly known as Fort Devens, officials said.
The detonations are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23rd, through Friday on South Post at the training area, according to a U.S. Army Garrison Devens Reserve Forces Training Area notice.
People in the area may hear sudden loud noises during the scheduled detonations. Officials advised residents to take precautions for pets or people sensitive to loud sounds.
Officials said the disposal site is cordoned off and secured, and strict safety protocols are in place. They said there is no threat to customers or the public and no delays on South Post.
