A 62-year-old Worcester man died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night while attempting to cross Hope Ave., according to the Worcester Police Department.
Police said Worcester Police Communications received a call around 9:15 Sunday night reporting that a male pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle near 137 Hope Ave.
Officers arriving at the scene found the injured man, later identified as James McGuire of Worcester. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.
A preliminary investigation determined that McGuire was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by the vehicle.
The Worcester Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the fatal crash. Police said there were no other injuries reported.
