A man was safely rescued Wednesday morning after running from an ambulance into Lake Quinsigamond, according to the Worcester Police Department.
Police said the man remained in the water for about an hour before first responders were able to safely remove him from the lake. He was then transported to a hospital for treatment.
The incident prompted a coordinated response involving multiple public safety agencies. Worcester police thanked the Spencer, Shrewsbury, UMass and environmental police, Worcester Fire Department, Worcester E.M.S., and the city's Crisis Intervention Team for helping in the rescue.
Officials said the agencies worked together to ensure the man was safely brought from the water.
