Worcester pools, beaches open for summer Tuesday

    WORCESTER — Worcester's public pools, beaches and spray parks will open for the summer beginning Tuesday, June 30th, with the city once again partnering with the YMCA of Central Mass. to provide staffing at aquatic facilities.

    Crompton Park Pool, Bell Pond Beach, Coes Pond Beach, Indian Lake Beach, Shore Park Beach and all city spray parks will operate seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m.

    The city's beaches and Crompton Park Pool will remain open through Saturday, August 22nd, while East, Greenwood, University and Tacoma Street spray parks will continue operating through Monday, September 7th.

    As part of the program, the YMCA of Central Mass. will offer free swimming lessons at Crompton Park Pool, Coes Pond Beach, Bell Pond Beach and Shore Park Beach.

    The YMCA will also oversee the city's free kayaking and paddleboard rental program at Coes Pond Beach. The program, which has operated on weekends since Memorial Day, will expand to daily operation beginning Tuesday, June 30, and continue through Aug. 22.

    The city has also released an interactive map showing the locations of all aquatic facilities and encourages residents to review water safety tips provided by the Worcester Fire Department before visiting beaches and pools.
