A Worcester police investigation into suspected crack distribution led detectives Wednesday morning to search a Grafton Street restaurant and a nearby apartment, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of drugs, guns and cash, police said.
Vice detectives executed search warrants at The Spot restaurant, 314 Grafton St., and an adjacent apartment on Cutler Street following what police described as a lengthy investigation. The warrants targeted 45-year-old Davial Kirkpatrick of Worcester.
Police said detectives saw Kirkpatrick leave the apartment shortly after 7 a.m. and walk toward the restaurant. When detectives approached, he allegedly attempted to flee up Grafton Street before he was quickly detained. Investigators said they recovered keys to the restaurant where Kirkpatrick was stopped while other detectives, members of the Emergency Operations Unit and a Worcester Police K-9 team secured both the apartment and the restaurant.
During the searches, detectives said they found about 350 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of fentanyl, digital scales, drug processing materials, personal paperwork belonging to Kirkpatrick and large amounts of cash in a rear office at the restaurant.
Police also reported finding an AR-15-style rifle, an AR-15-style pistol and 3 loaded 30-round magazines in Kirkpatrick's bedroom at the Cutler Street apartment, along with additional cash. Investigators said Kirkpatrick does not have a license to carry guns.
Authorities seized approximately $65,000 from the apartment and the restaurant.
Kirkpatrick is charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of cocaine and multiple gun-related offenses.
Worcester police thanked the Framingham Police Department K-9 Unit for assisting with the searches.
