Worcester gang officers seize 2 guns, arrest N.H. man

    WORCESTER — A 21-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested after Worcester police said officers found 2 loaded guns under the driver's seat of his vehicle during a traffic stop in Great Brook Valley.

    Members of the Worcester Police Department's Gang Unit assigned to the Summer Impact program were patrolling the neighborhood shortly before 9:30 Sunday night, according to a department release Monday.

    Police said officers were in the area after a ShotSpotter notification detected gunfire near Great Brook Valley 5 hours earlier that day.

    Officers saw a vehicle speeding near 40 Great Brook Valley and conducted a traffic stop, police said. The driver was identified as Liam Nolan, 21, of Manchester.

    Police said Nolan was uncooperative and was removed from the car. Officers found gloves and a ski mask in his possession, according to the department.

    Officers then found 2 loaded guns under the driver's seat, police said. An investigation determined Nolan did not have a valid license to carry a gun.

    Nolan was charged with 2 counts each of carrying a gun without a license, carrying a loaded gun without a license, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and possession of a large-capacity gun. He was also charged with possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card and resisting arrest.

    Police did not say whether they believe Nolan or the guns recovered during the traffic stop were connected to the gunfire detected earlier in the day.
