Worcester police seize cocaine, fentanyl in Main South raid

    WORCESTER — 4 people were arrested on drug trafficking charges after Worcester police raided a Preston Street apartment that investigators said was being used to store and distribute crack cocaine and fentanyl.

    Vice detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment around 8 p.m. Monday, September 21st following what police described as a lengthy investigation into drug sales in Main South.

    Police said investigators identified the apartment as a stash location used by a group of young males to distribute drugs throughout Main South. The apartment also had been the site of recent gang-related activity, according to police.

    Vice detectives, Gang Unit detectives and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit detectives approached the apartment with Worcester police K-9 and E.O.P. officers. Once inside, officers found 18-year-old Alexander Abreu, 18-year-old Niziah Colon, 18-year-old Denisse Santiago and a 17-year-old boy, according to police.

    A search of the apartment turned up about 78 grams of crack cocaine and 33 grams of fentanyl, both packaged for sale, police said. Detectives also seized drug packaging materials, digital scales and what police described as a large amount of cash.

    Abreu, Colon, Santiago and the 17-year-old were arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine between 36 and 99 grams, trafficking a Class A substance between 18 and 36 grams, and trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl.

    Police said a second 17-year-old boy was arrested while detectives were transferring the 4 prisoners to a patrol wagon. According to police, the teen repeatedly approached detectives and interfered with efforts to transfer the prisoners despite being ordered several times to keep his distance.

    The second juvenile was charged with interfering with police and resisting arrest.

    Framingham police K-9 officers assisted Worcester police during the investigation.
