Fire heavily damages Holden home; all residents escape

  • HOLDEN — A late-night fire severely damaged a single-family home on Bullard Street early Sunday, but all occupants were able to evacuate without injury, according to the Holden Fire Department.

Crews were called to 497 Bullard St. at 12:55 a.m. after flames were reported on an exterior porch. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the porch and inside the kitchen, with heat spreading toward the attic, officials said. A working fire was declared, bringing automatic aid from neighboring towns as firefighters worked to keep the blaze from extending deeper into the home.
