Anna Maria College (Facebook)
Massachusetts colleges announced Thursday they are expanding transfer opportunities and support services to assist students affected by the upcoming closure of Anna Maria College at the end of the Spring semester.
Assumption University said it is offering Anna Maria students a streamlined transfer process, including same-day guaranteed admission for students in good standing, fast financial aid decisions and waived application fees. The university is also offering a $2,000 AU Community Scholarship, along with an additional $2,000 resident grant for students who choose to live on campus.
Assumption said transfer students may bring up to 90 credits and will receive personalized advising from their first day. The university will host a welcome session and campus tour for Anna Maria students and families at 9:30 Saturday.
Worcester State University announced it is partnering with Anna Maria to provide guaranteed transfer pathways and degree completion options for undergraduate students. Students in good academic and social standing will receive guaranteed admission, waived application fees, residential housing opportunities and dedicated academic support.
Worcester State also said its athletics programs will welcome student-athletes in good standing. The university will host a welcome event from 11 to 1 on Saturday, where students and families can meet staff from Admissions, Athletics and the Academic Success Center, tour campus and receive complimentary lunch.
Regis College in Weston announced a comprehensive partnership with Anna Maria that includes teach-out plans, transfer pathways and student support services aimed at helping displaced students complete their degrees.
As part of the agreement, Regis will serve as the official depository for Anna Maria’s academic records, ensuring that former students and alumni maintain long-term access to transcripts and academic documentation.
Regis College President Antoinette Hays said institutions of higher education have a responsibility to help students continue their academic progress during times of transition. Regis officials said they have been working with Anna Maria leadership to develop teach-out plans for several undergraduate and graduate programs, including fields such as business administration, criminal justice, education, nursing, psychology and social work.
Regis will provide personalized advising, transfer credit evaluations and dedicated support services to help students transition smoothly. Additional details about specific programs, transfer guidance and upcoming information sessions are expected to be released in the coming days.
The announcements come as Anna Maria College prepares to cease academic operations following the Spring semester, prompting nearby institutions to expand options aimed at helping affected students remain on track toward graduation.
