7 Worcester nursing homes have seen 20 or more COVID-19 deaths
At least 282 residents of long-term care facilities in Worcester have died from COVID-19, according to data released recently by the Mass. Department of Public Health.
The DPH COVID-19 dashboard for July 8 includes data provided by 25 long-term facilities in Worcester. Eight of the homes reported no deaths, five of those also reported no cases of COVID-19.
Notre Dame Long Term Care Center reported the most deaths, 32. Beaumont at University Campus (30) was the only other facility to have more than 30 deaths.
Seven of the 25 reporting homes reported 20 or more deaths related to COVID-19.
In total, between 282 and 285 residents of Worcester long-term care facilities have died because of COVID-19. Because of the state’s reporting guidelines, the exact number of deaths at homes with fewer than five deaths are not required to be reported. Knollwood Nursing Center reported “1-4” deaths, hence the range of 282 to 285.
St. Mary's Healthcare Center of Worcester has seen 28 residents die from COVID-19.
Sixteen of the homes reported more than 30 COVID-19 cases among residents and staff. One reported between 11 and 30 cases, and three reported 1-10 cases.
The homes reporting no deaths are Oasis at Dodge Park, Dodge Park Rest Home, Donna Kay Rest Home, Dalton Rest Home, Homestead Hall, Pleasant Acres Rest Home, Willows at Worcester, and Winter Hill Rest Home.
Five additional long-term care facilities in Worcester County have reported at least 30 deaths. They are Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center - Northbridge (36), LifeCare Center of Auburn (34), Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center - Northborough (32), Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center - Westborough (31) and The Highlands in Fitchburg (31).
Reporting on long-term care facilities is done weekly by the DPH.
