In 2019, Auburn police “investigated incidents in which glass bottles filled with an incendiary liquid and stuffed with a burning piece of cloth, were thrown at the front of two separate homes,” the post reads. “Luckily, the devices did not cause major damage. DNA evidence obtained by APD Detectives identified the suspect as an Auburn man,” 33-year-old Robert Budzyna.

In 2020, authorities in Texas obtained DNA from Budzyna, who was in custody there on an unrelated charge. After he was released in Texas and with a DNA match, a Worcester County Grand Jury indicted him on 2 counts of arson and 2 counts of throwing explosives.

Police obtained a warrant on April 22nd. “Later that day, (he) was located by APD Detectives and arrested. At that time, he was found to be in possession of metal brass knuckles.”

In addition to the 2019 charges, Budzyna was also charged with being a fugitive from justice because of a warrant in Texas, and possession of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles).
