Leroux Meat and Deli, a Holden institution since 1968, announced it will close permanently on Sunday.

"Our small family business began many years ago with our father, Raymond Leroux, making sausage in our basement to sell to pizza houses after having working all day, with the support of our mother Elizabeth.
He went on to open and run several businesses. His most recent endeavor being our current location at 624 Main Street, Holden," reads the Facebook post, in part.

The family business began in 1968, according to a Facebook post on Monday.

The family blames the closing "a never ending struggle with product shortages, continuous rising prices, government mandated wage increases and lack of help" since the onset of the COVID pandemic.

"We want to end our journey with a heartfelt thank you to all of our dedicated employees, customers and vendors that have supported us throughout these endless challenges. We sincerely wish each and every one of you the best of luck in your future endeavors. May you find happiness and success in new opportunities."

"Farewell to all. It has been a pleasure. We will miss you!"
