AUBURN - A 23-year-old man from Worcester, identified as Jose Adorno, has been sentenced to 20 months in jail following an investigation by the Auburn Police Department into a series of stolen motor vehicles and related crimes.
In June 2023, Adorno faced charges for 2 counts of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, alongside numerous other offenses. The investigation revealed Adorno's involvement in over a dozen instances of motor vehicle break-ins in the Auburn area, specifically between Central Street and Goddard Drive.
Auburn Police's Bureau of Criminal Identifications played a crucial role in identifying Adorno through evidence found in the stolen vehicles. Although specific details of the evidence were not disclosed, it was instrumental in linking him to the crimes. Further investigation extended Adorno's criminal activities to other communities, with detectives successfully recovering 3 stolen vehicles connected to him.
Adorno's sentencing took place on Monday, February 12th. He was sentenced to the Worcester County House of Correction, marking a significant resolution to the case.
The Auburn Police Department expressed gratitude towards community members who contributed to the investigation by providing video evidence and reporting suspicious activities. These contributions underscore the department's reliance on citizen information to help combat crime.
For further information or to report suspicious activity, residents can contact the Auburn Police Department at 508-833-7777 or via email at textatip@auburnmasspolice.org.
