AUBURN — A 57-year-old New York woman was arrested recently after allegedly attempting to withdraw $7,000 from another person’s bank account at a local bank, Auburn police reported.
Maria Giuttari, of Monroe, N.Y., was taken into custody Thursday after she resisted arrest and kicked a detective inside the bank. The incident occurred at 2:35 p.m., when bank employees, aware of an earlier fraudulent attempt at another Massachusetts bank, notified police of the suspicious transaction.
Detective Keith Chipman responded and attempted to speak with Giuttari, who became uncooperative and tried to flee. During a brief struggle, Giuttari kicked Chipman and shouted profanities in front of other customers.
Following her arrest, police found approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine and a smoking pipe in her purse. Giuttari was also in possession of a fraudulent Florida driver's license bearing the victim’s information.
Giuttari faces multiple charges, including identity theft, forgery, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
