A weekend search for a missing person in the woods of Holden turned tragic when the person was found deceased on Sunday afternoon, according to Holden Police.
Holden Police, State Police and other agencies began searching the Trout Brook Recreation Area on Manning Street on Saturday afternoon, according to a release from Holden Police.
The town closed the 660-acre recreation area on Sunday to continue the search, which included a police helicopter.
At approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, hikers discovered the body "deep in a heavily wooded area" of the reservation.
Police have not released information about the deceased.
"This is believed to be an isolated incident, and will be investigated by the Mass State Police," the release said. "Trout Brook Recreation Area is open, and there is no threat to the public."
