A fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen of an Auburn home overnight.

Shortly before midnight, the Auburn Fire Department's West Street Station was sent to 17 Appleton Road for a reported kitchen fire, according to a tweet from the department.
Fire fighters kept the fire from spreading from the kitchen.
Investigators have determined that accidental cooking caused the fire.
