It is the beginning of its final act: Showcase Cinemas Worcester North is being demolished.
The tearing down of the last theater in Worcester showing first-run Hollywood releases began earlier this week.
A crew from F&D Truck Co. of Millbury has been at the site and on Wednesday a crew was busy with demolition.

The 18-screen theater complex on Brooks Street opened in 1996, but went dark in the early days of the pandemic in March 2020.
National Amusements confirmed in June that it was permanently closed, according to an article by Spectrum News 1.

Spectrum News 1 then reported in July that Showcase North was sold to a New York-based real estate company, Criterion Group, for $8.75 million.
Criterion told the Telegram & Gazette in July that the 17.25-acre parcel would be used for industrial purposes.
