Maydee Morales (WCAC)
The Worcester Community Action Council recently appointed Maydee Morales to lead the agency's Resiliency Center.
Morales brings with her a wealth of experience in and knowledge about the community, as well as a strong track record of working collaboratively to generate positive outcomes. WCAC Executive Director Marybeth Campbell said, "Her leadership will help bolster the Resiliency Center's ability to support individuals on the path to self-sufficiency."
Morales is a native of Puerto Rico and has previously worked for Centro, Friendly House, Edward M. Kennedy Health Center, Great Brook Valley Health Center and most recently as the director of social services for Catholic Charities of Worcester County.
She credits her mother and grandmother with nurturing her passion for social service and notes that from a very early age she was taught the importance of being there for others. Morales said, "Making meaningful changes in the lives of our society, our community is what I'm all about," and she is excited about the opportunity to support people in reaching true self-sufficiency through WCAC's Resiliency Center.
The Resiliency Center's current team includes a Director of Financial Empowerment, 2 Cliff Effect Coaches and a Financial Coach. Morales will be looking to add several Community Navigators to the team soon. The coaches work 1-on-1 with individuals to educate, empower and connect people to financial opportunities and support them to reach their self-identified goals. Individuals can learn more about the center and request a meeting with a coach by visiting WCAC's website: www.wcac.net/financial-empowerment/financial-coaching/
In addition to her work for WCAC, Morales is overseeing Open Sky's new Sowing Seeds of Hope homeless shelter at Blessed Sacrament Church and has announced her candidacy for an At-Large seat on the Worcester City Council.
