W.R.T.A. seeks rider community population rep

  • WORCESTER — The Worcester Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board is searching for a Rider Community Population Representative to fill a vacancy in its ranks. Appointments for this position will be made by the town or city in which the representative resides.

The Rider's Rep. must reside in one of the 13 communities served by W.R.T.A. fixed-route and will be required to:

    • Be a fixed-route rider
    • Commit to a one-year term as a volunteer
    • Attend monthly W.R.T.A. Board Meetings on the third Thursday of every month at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom Webinar

The appointment process for the Rider's Rep. is on a first-come, first-served basis, with the response date determining the appointee to fill the vacancy. All other applicants will be queued for consideration and selected in the order their application was received. It is important to note that the Rider's Rep. position cannot be filled by the same town or city that currently holds the "Disabled Commuter Population" position.

Interested candidates should contact the local municipality in which they reside to apply. Once appointed, the representative will be asked to provide a completed "Conflict of Interest Law" certificate. A record of their phone number and mailing address will also be required to receive monthly meeting invitations and board-related business. Please note that the representative's name and address will be posted on the W.R.T.A. website.

The deadline for responses is June 1st.
