Governor nominates Worcester lawyer to be judge

  • BOSTON — Massachusetts Governor Maura T. Healey has put forward Jennifer Currie, an accomplished Worcester-based attorney, as the latest nominee for the Massachusetts Juvenile Court, according to press release. The appointment awaits confirmation by the Governor's Council.

    Jennifer boasts a distinguished career as a lawyer, primarily focused on representing indigent children in Worcester County. She has dedicated her legal expertise to addressing a wide range of cases, including criminal matters, care and protection, and personal injury, within Juvenile, District, and Superior courts.

    "I'm excited to nominate Attorney Currie to our Juvenile Court," Governor Healey remarked in a press release. "She is deeply committed to her work and has significant experience supporting both children, families, and attorneys involved with the Juvenile Court and the Department of Children and Families in Worcester County, which will serve her well in this new position on the Juvenile Court."

    Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll commended Jennifer for her compassion and understanding of the complexities within the Juvenile Court system. "Throughout her career, Attorney Currie has proven herself to be a compassionate attorney who understands the ins and outs of the Juvenile Court and how to best support all parties involved," Driscoll stated.

    Jennifer's legal career has been marked by her commitment to representing children and parents in Juvenile Court proceedings. Her notable contributions include her role as the Worcester Juvenile Court Supervising Attorney for the past four years, where she worked closely with the Committee for Public Counsel Services since 2008.

    In addition to her legal practice, Jennifer has been an active member of her community, volunteering her time for various charitable causes. She participates annually in the Fill the Treehouse event, supporting children and families battling childhood cancers. She has also served as the Community Service Chair of the Harvard Family Association Board and volunteered with the Town of Harvard's Athletic programs.

    Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College and a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University School of Law. She resides in Harvard with her husband and 2 children.
