WORCESTER — A Sunday morning stroll turned into a wild adventure for a bear that wandered into the wrong place.
Around 8:15 Sunday, State Police Troopers from the Millbury barracks received an unusual call: a bear had been spotted standing in the middle of McKeon Road, directly over busy Route 146 in Worcester.
Responding swiftly, Worcester officers and animal control teams sprang into action, containing the bear and establishing a hasty perimeter to ensure public safety.
With the situation under control, troopers and Massachusetts Environmental Police positioned themselves strategically, preparing to tranquilize the curious intruder.
Despite the tension, there was an air of curiosity as onlookers watched the coordinated efforts of law enforcement and wildlife experts. The bear, now sedated, presented an opportunity for some unforgettable snapshots as officers snapped a few photos of the tranquilized creature before its relocation.
With the bear safely subdued, the next challenge was to transport it to a more suitable habitat away from major roadways and densely populated areas. Ensuring the bear's well-being was paramount, and after a refreshing nap induced by the tranquilizer, it was gently moved to a location where it could roam freely without posing a risk to itself or others.
