Woman arrested for armed robbery with box cutter in Worcester

  • WORCESTER — A woman was arrested recently after allegedly attempting an armed robbery with a box cutter in a Downtown Worcester parking garage, according to police.

    Authorities responded to a report of an assault at approximately 8:50 a.m. April 8th on Mechanic Street. Officers learned that a female victim, who had just parked her car, was confronted by another woman identified as 28-year-old Jades Rivera of Berkeley Street.

    Police say Rivera, pacing back and forth near the victim’s vehicle, brandished a box cutter and demanded the victim’s phone. The victim fled on foot, with Rivera in pursuit. During the chase, Rivera allegedly scratched the victim with her fingernails. The victim eventually sought refuge in a nearby public place, where she alerted others and pointed out Rivera as her assailant.

    Officers held Rivera at the scene and recovered a box cutter from her possession. Rivera was charged with armed robbery and assault and battery. She was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.
