WORCESTER — Boston-based developer Anthony Rossi recently received an award from the City of Worcester and Preservation Worcester for his work in restoring several Worcester properties into housing.
Rossi was presented the award at the annual meeting of Preservation Worcester.
Rossi, whose in-laws reside in Worcester, was presented the award on behalf of his work done in restoring Walker Lofts on Water Street.
Walker Lofts
"That was my first big building (in Worcester)," he said in a recent interview. "62 units on Water Street. And that's all fully leased, was leased within 60 days. Ready to go, 62 units, full-amenity building, historic building. We restored the whole building to its original historic nature."
Other properties recently completed by Rossi include a huge renovation of the former Commerce High School, which also served as office space for the former Paul Revere Insurance Company on Sudbury Street, just off Main Street, and 33 Hermon Street, which were 2 former textile factories also converted to housing.
The Sudbury Street Lofts and 33 Hermon Street offer studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments and are both leasing now.
Sudbury Lofts has 121 units, Hermon Street 66. Hermon Street's next phase is adding a restaurant/supermarket, Rossi said.
Rossi is currently restoring the former Table Talk Pies headquarters on Green Street into housing and retail development.
