New bakery part of $1M building project
A building being constructed on the site of a former carwash will house a new bakery, according to documents on file with the City of Worcester.
Domar Realty Group recently began pouring the foundation for a building at 270 Grove St., across the street from the Oak Barrel Tavern. The site was previously Gervais Car Wash, which was demolished earlier this year.
The new building across the street from the Oak Barrel Tavern will house "a bakery with storefront and future tenant space," according to a building permit on file with the city.
In one of two building permits issues on June 5, Domar described the work as such: "New construction - bakery with storefront and future tenant space."
A permit pulled on May 1 estimated the project cost to be $1,007,360.
The site at the corner of Grove and North streets will house a bakery, among other things.
Domar Realty Trust is owned by Domenico and Alice Lombardi. They are also owners of Lombardi Bakery Service, which has a Holden address and describes its business as "bakery and coffee shop."
In addition to a bakery, the building would also house an "office, food-service, retail, and bank with drive-thru," according to the minutes of a 2018 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting.
